600 INCONEL ALLOY BAR PRODUCT INTRODUCTION


The high nickel content in the Inconel 600 Alloy Forged Bar enhances the alloys resistance to corrosion against many organic and inorganic compounds. The presence of nickel also makes the  Alloy 600 Nickel Hot Rolled Bar virtually immune to chloride ion stress related corrosion cracking. Chromium, when added to the Alloy 600 Inconel Polished Bar along with nickel improves the alloys resistance to sulfur containing compounds while providing resistance against oxidizing conditions at elevated temperatures or in the presence of corrosive solutions. The Inconel Alloy 600 ASTM B166 Round Rod is not precipitation hardenable; Inconel Alloy 600 Bar Stock is hardened and strengthened only by cold working the alloy.

Alloy 600 is resistant to all kinds of corrosive media. The chromium composition gives the alloy better corrosion resistance under oxidation conditions than nickel 99.2(alloy 200) and nickel 99.2(alloy 201 low carbon). At the same time, the higher nickel content makes the alloy have good corrosion resistance in reduction conditions and alkaline solutions, and can effectively prevent chlorine-iron stress corrosion cracking. Alloy 600 has good corrosion resistance in acetic acid, acetic acid, formic acid, stearic acid and other organic acids, and moderate corrosion resistance in inorganic acids. The high purity water used for primary and secondary circulation in nuclear reactors has excellent corrosion resistance. The 600 is particularly resistant to corrosion by dry chlorine and hydrogen chloride at 650℃. At high temperature, the annealed and solution treated alloys have good oxidation resistance and high strength in air. The alloy can also resist ammonia and nitriding and carburizing atmosphere, but when the REDOX conditions change alternately, the alloy will be corroded by some oxidizing media (such as green dead liquid).
